How to Add Text to a Video Online
Turn a title, artist name or short message into its own timeline clip. You can change its wording and duration while keeping the underlying video intact.

- Import a video and choose the start time.Move the playhead to where the title should appear. A text clip starts at the current timeline position.
- Open Text and choose a template.Start with one of the included Free templates, such as Clean Minimal, Neo Lower Third or End Slate. The template adds text to a Text row.
- Replace the sample words.With the text selected, open Text → Edit and change Your text. Adjust the size, colour and opacity, then position the text in the preview.
- Set the duration.Move the text clip to change its start; drag its end handles to change how long it stays on screen. On a phone, hold the body before dragging. Zoom in for a more precise entrance or exit.
- Watch the title over moving footage.Play through the whole text clip. Check that the words remain readable as the background changes, and leave space around the edges for the platform where you will share the video.
What is free, and what does Pro add?

Pro adds the full template collection, additional fonts, text styles and animations. Choosing a Pro option does not make it part of the Free export allowance.
Titles and captions serve different jobs
A title introduces a person, a scene or a song. Captions follow spoken words and need more frequent timing changes. You can build those text clips manually, or use Pro's automatic captions, currently in Beta, for up to five minutes of source audio per clip.
Always review generated wording and timing. Sung lyrics, background music and unusual names may need correction; automatic captions are not a guarantee of accurate lyrics.
Keep an editable copy
Use Project settings → Save project + media before exporting. The project preserves editable text; the exported MP4 contains the rendered result. Open the project backup when you want to revise a title later.
For a music video, add the artist and song title only after the main timing works. The Selyna editing example shows how the picture and soundtrack can be laid out first.
